Riders for Health

Riders Nigeria has been involved in projects dating back to 1999, when we were involved in the WHO polio eradication effort nationwide. Since 2010 we have changed our focus, reinvigorating our service – we have rebuilt our technical competence and capacity so that we can serve the health community efficiently and effectively. We still maintain the vehicles in the UN House from our onsite vehicle maintenance unit (VMU), but we have now also added five other VMUs around the country, positioning ourselves within five of the geopolitical zones in Nigeria. We are now pursuing end-to-end fleet management contracts for health-focused organisations, including the government.

Examples of current partnerships on the ground include last mile distribution for pharmaceuticals and supplies, mobilisation of government-employed community health extension workers (CHEWs), and training and ongoing management of fleets of vehicles for health partners.
